I would like to begin by thanking all of you who voted for my photo of Bernadette in the photo contest! I was thrilled to have won the Color division with her photo!
I am quite honored that you felt my picture of my little goat was worthy.
The others were all so good!
This week’s prompt is Celebrate the Season and I don’t know if I was celebrating today but I was certainly dealing with the result of the season. I took the rest of the strawberry harvest and made Strawberry Lemonade Sorbet.
It turned out delicious; very strongly flavored with both the strawberry and lemon coming through quite distinctly. I’ll have the recipe up on the blog in the next day or so.
It’s also cherry time. I gave Pricilla and AbbyGoat cherries for the first time and they really enjoyed them. As for me, it was just a lot of pitting. The first 20lbs are done and tomorrow I’ll tackle the second 20lbs. I didn’t get as many this year because of my leg although I might get more later.
I pit them and the freeze them so I have them to use all winter long. Cherries freeze beautifully and if you ask me they taste heavenly while still frozen.
When they are all lined up on the cookie sheet to freeze I think they look like gems. I plan to make some cherry syrup tomorrow. I’ll use the same basic recipe I created for the strawberry syrup I made the other day. I’ll also make some sorbet with them as well. We do love our frozen treats around this house.
Last year I did around 80lbs I think….they are a heavenly treat in mid-February!
