We are officially halfway through the year.
Can you believe it?
I can’t. It went so very quickly – as time always does.

This week the prompt for the weekly photo challenge from Sally at The Studio Sublime was:

You pick – What are you focusing on this week?
I’m sure this is going to be a very interesting hop around the group!
My big focus this week was coming home from vacation to a finished deck! I know, this is probably mundane in the scheme of things but I was very excited. We started the house in 2007, we were able to occupy it in 2010 (notice I didn’t say “we finished it”) and the deck was added in 2013. Hmmm, I wonder what is going to happen in 2017….?
I have chronicled the move into the yurt with blog posts called “yurtgress” and I suppose this is technically a yurtgress post. You can see some of the building process here and here. This is the yurt before the deck – my first thought upon seeing it built with the skylight added was that I was living in a baby bottle complete with nipple.
Not the best illustration but all of my good shots are on the dead computer.
Now it looks like a completed house.
It looks finished.
It looks like it belongs in the tropics – not Montana!
But that’s OK.
I’ll take it.
We chose to keep the spindles out of the one section so as to not impede the view to the river. They are in the basement so we have them if we ever decide to sell the house.
I even took some “artsy” shots.
We are both enjoying it. The wait was worth it. We sit out and enjoy our coffee on it in the morning and then just enjoy the evenings together. It goes all around the house which is fantastic. I just have one big problem….
Be sure to check out all of the other “You pick” posts at The Studio Sublime.

That deck is wonderful. Looks like a great place to live. I can see a gate coming at the bottom of the steps. The goat We had would push in the screen and eat my houseplants.

Ha Ha Ha!! I love it!! First I love the house – and your new deck is fabulous! But the little ones at your door or just too cute for words!

Love your deck. It looks amazing and what a great view you have to sit and enjoy. Goat-babies also seem thrilled to be more easily able to check on Mom! I guess they are able to navigate the steps just fine – adorable!

It looks absolutely gorgeous and relaxing. I could sit on that deck for a very long time… perhaps even take a snooze if the goats would let me.

I love it! A neighbor of ours built one last year and painted it green. I really love your deck. I’d be out there all day reading and looking at the amazing scenery!!

Would love to see photos of the inside!

Oh dear, I’m green with envy over you yurt! What a beautiful home in a beautiful setting!! Your addition is just as beautiful. And yes, even the goat is beautiful. Thanks for sharing, and I can’t wait to see what’s next

Patty, the yourt is absolutely gorgeous!! Love the deck – you’re right, it completes the home perfectly. I actually had hubby worry for a moment, we are driving (he’s driving, I’m reading blogs :)) and when I got to the last picture I burst into loughs! He wasn’t sure why – and we’re going through the Appalachians…
