Remember I mentioned shopping for rock.
Lots of rock.
Like 600 pounds of rock?
Well, we didn’t use all of it, but we do now have a very lovely hearth. I think the hubby did a really great job considering he had never done anything like this before.
He built the containment wall and then he put the rocks in to see how they would fit. The rock is charcoal slate and has lots of subtle, sparkly mica running through it.
Then he took the rocks all out and put the cement down and put them all back in again! Then he put some dye in the grout and started grouting in between.
It such pretty rock. I just wish the sparkle showed up in the photos.
After he finished he moved the wood stove on to it. He hadn’t put all the doors back on yet and it sure needs a dusting but you can get a feel for how it’s going to look.
The woodstove is dark blue enamel. Isn’t it gorgeous?
He’s working on putting the flooring down now. Woo hoo!
