It’s funny living in a house full of windows. We are truly bound to Nature’s schedule – when the sun comes up the yurt fills with light. There are windows everywhere; two in the bedroom, three in the computer room, two in the bathroom, one by the side door, one on the kitchen and seven in the living/dining room plus the sliding glass door. They are not tiny windows, they are five feet tall by two and a half feet wide. The only ones that deviate are the two small bathroom windows. Then there is the skylight – a big 6 foot opening at the top of the yurt.
There is no escaping the light.
In the winter it is not such a big deal as the sun comes up late and sets early. But in the summer – hoo boy! It starts getting light at ungodly hours and it doesn’t get fully dark until 10 at night. It’s a good think I can sleep in full light, isn’t it?
The hubby is more sensitive to the light so we made a further bit of yurtgress by getting some blinds for the bedroom. They are all wood and made in the US. I picked a stain that would go well with the yellow paint.
I’m very pleased with them and they do offer a bit of privacy. Not that it’s really a concern but with the deck on the yurt we do have people (and sometimes goats) walking around up there. Now if I only had trim….
