Moving to Montana was a little bit of culture shock for me. You think you live in the same country and then you learn that each region is it’s own little world. I moved from New Jersey where fashions were up.to.date and going out to dinner meant dressing up; heels, makeup, hair done and all. Then I found myself in Montana where dressing up meant putting on your dark jeans and dress cowboy boots. So today I’m going to show you how I go from Day to Night – Montana Style featuring stylish fashion from Monroe and Main.
I chose two versatile pieces from their holiday catalog that I know I will use again and again. The first is the Super Drape Top: it’s a great basic that will serve me well for so many outings. It is a super soft rayon with flattering ruching along the sides. The neckline drapes to a comfortable level and it has 3/4 sleeves. The neutral grey color will go with anything. The second piece I absolutely adore. In fact, I’ve been in love with it since I first saw it on the Monroe and Main website. It’s the Release Pleat Cardigan. Everything about it just called to me; the color, the length, the beautiful femininity of the drape. It totally lived up to my dreams. It’s light, the pattern is lovely and it makes me want to…….
I just feel so happy when I am wearing this sweater! (I also learned that when I twirl left I spin like a drunken sailor.) Heh. Wouldn’t you want to just spin and spin in a cardigan so beautiful? I love these pieces from Monroe and Main!
Their site is full of pieces that I covet, I also enjoy reading the Monroe and Main blog with lots of great fashion topics. Given the current state of my closet I found the post on How to Broaden Your Wardrobe of great interest. I tend to buy classic styles in bold colors so the tips on adding patterns was very helpful. I think I can also benefit from moving out of my comfort zone a bit and adding in some of what is trending.
So, how did I make my pieces go from Day to Night, Montana Style? It was simple. For day I wore my new Lee Jeans, my BearPaw Tama boots and a long necklace from my jewelry box. I left my hair plain and simple.
While taking pictures for the night look I encountered a touch of winter! It snowed so I’ll show you how I handle going out with snow covered ground. I start out wearing y snow boots and I carry a pair of dress shoes….
…in my purse! I will often see a row of snow boots lined up at a house or in a restaurant and I know I’m not the only one who packed shoes. A person has to adapt to their environment, right? That covers my footwear so what else did I do to dress up my evening look? I curled my hair which immediately gave me a more polished look. Then I brought on the bling with my accessories.
I wore a necklace of my own design (labradorite, pearls and rhodocrosite), a bracelet from Beaded Tail and earrings from Crysallis Creations. My bag is from Miche. I love how the tangerine color pops against the berry of the cardigan. I am now ready for a night out with my hubby and what I love about this look – I can carry all that I need with me and do a quick change in the bathroom. The curling iron heats quickly and it only takes about five minutes to get my hair curly. So there you go – that’s how I go from Day to Night, Montana Style! Still comfortable but looking stylish thanks to Monroe and Main.
