It was a beautiful couple of days so the Farm cats have been out on the deck enjoying the Spring breezes and the sunshine. Harry the Farm cat had been hit by a car a few weeks ago but he was a very, very lucky kitty. He still has an issue with one paw but other than that he is pretty much back to his normal, gopher eating self. He stayed in the yurt for about a week; he had no interest in going back outside. I had some hope that he wouldn’t want to go back out again but that was short lived. He was soon crying (yowling!) at the door to head back out to his hunting grounds. The first week out he had problems because of the hurt paw and he was a bit depressed. Then he started catching mice and gophers again and he’s back to his jaunty self.
I’m glad he’s happy again but I always worry when they are out. He has so far, avoided getting anywhere near the road. He’s gotten pretty quick on his gimpy leg so I’m not as worried as I was about the chickens chasing him or a raptor coming down. Life on the farm.
Sherpa tends to stay close to home and in fact is now spending more time in than out. I think he just goes out to annoy me because he always wants out just as I get settled in to read or type. He’s not the hunter that Harry is but he will occasionally bring me a snake.
Pumpkin is a warm weather cat – rather a cat after my own heart. Once the weather turns it’s almost impossible to get him back inside. He rarely goes off the deck – usually he’ll run down, do his business and then he is back on the deck. He just doesn’t want to be inside! I have to pick him up and bring him in at night. Silly cat.
I think we are all ready for those warm and sunny days. How about you?
