From Kitchen to Table rolls along on this, the fifth day of the yummy event. Today I feature a really fun and unique product, Mykoola Edible Frosting Designs. When I first saw these sheets of edible beauty I was very intrigued. There are so many gorgeous patterns to choose I had a very hard time picking the ones I would review. I loved these:
But chose these
because Fall is here and I thought they would be perfect for Thanksgiving and this time of year.
When you choose your pattern set you get to pick three of the designs within the grouping for your order. The set is designed to all work together so you can’t go wrong no matter what three you choose.
It was time to bake for the firemen so I baked a basic sheet cake and made a buttercream icing. The Mykoola Edible Frosting Designs come with very easy to follow and detailed instructions on how to use the sheets. Each sheet is 8 x 10.5″. I only used one of my sheets in decorating this cake because it was my first time and I wanted to save some for other uses.
You need to put the sheet in the freezer for a couple of minutes before using it. I did so and I took it out when I was ready to cut out my designs.
You also need to make sure that your icing is wet when you put the cut outs down or they will not blend in. If your icing has dried you can spritz it with water.
I figured out my design (super simple for my first try!) and I cut out the pieces from the frosting sheet and carefully lay them on the icing. They cannot be moved once they have been put down so you do need to work carefully. The sheet was very easy to cut. I drew my design on the back of the sheet and it made it simple to cut out. The edible frosting design sheet tastes rather like squished marshmallow.
I liked the flowers in the middle. I know I will get better as I used these more often. You can also use the edible frosting designs on iced cookies or on fondant.
The owner of the company is so very clever. Aren’t those cookies gorgeous? I am going to try some cookies later this month.
