What? If you have a blog you have probably heard of and are making changes due to GDPR. If you don’t you are asking yourselves what is GDPR and why do I care when I come here to read book reviews, enter giveaways and check out the recipes for tasty treats like apricot couronne. Due to new privacy laws in the European Union any internet site that has visitors from any of the countries therein must comply with the rules. Since a few people do visit here from some places other than the US I need to make the GDPR changes at Broken Teepee.
What Are the GDPR Changes at Broken Teepee?
If you are in the European Union and you subscribe to the Broken Teepee newsletter you need to confirm that and resubscribe. Or you can choose to unsubscribe. It is easy to do within the newsletter itself. In fact anyone who does not wish to receive it any time can do so. I hope you don’t as I like to think you enjoy getting the first look but hey – it’s up to you.
All giveaways are now US or US/Can only. Complying with the rules for giveaways in the EU is more complicated than I want to get into. I am sorry.
Comments are turned off as there are additional tracking rules for the collection of data that again, I just don’t want to deal with. If you want to leave a comment I will link to my social media accounts. Links to the main pages of will be listed at the end of each post. I will pin the story for 24 hours except for Instagram where I will come back in and add the story link. I hope you will still comment on your choice of network should you choose.
Why is This Happening?
The EU is protecting the data of its citizens. In light of the recent news over the blowup at Facebook and Cambridge Analytica this is a very relevant topic. If you want to learn more there is a GDPR for Dummies available. Heaven knows I needed it to make these GDPR changes at Broken Teepee.
I am truly sorry for any inconvenience these changes cause you. I hope you continue to visit Broken Teepee in spite of the occasional extra click now and then.
