I’ve mentioned that I’m trying to rebuild my wardrobe a little bit at a time. Most of the clothes that I took with me on the road were size medium and large and due to the twin facts of a medication that takes away my appetite and living many days in a state of nausea I am now a small or extra small. Gotta love it – give me this size body at a point in life when it doesn’t do me any good. heh Back when I was dating I, like most women, struggled with my weight. Now that I’m old and married to the most wonderful man in the world I can fit into almost anything but have no reason to.
Irony, it’s a curious thing.
I’ve been picking up pieces here and there to create a wardrobe that suits my current life and that fits the body I have now. It’s just weird for me after a lifetime of bigger clothing to be buying these sizes. Old habits die hard. I realize this is a problem a lot of women would like to have but I do often have to remind myself to look at the measurements. I can’t just go by numbers any longer. I also don’t like to spend a lot of money on clothing as I spend most of my days in comfy things like yoga pants and flannel shirts. I don’t go out that often but when I do I like to look nice.
I’ll be going to BarkWorld/MeowWorld later this month and the hubby will be taking me out for a late birthday celebration so I wanted something that would cover both celebrations – there is a banquet at the end of the blog conference. I found this really lovely Dana Buckman top at Fashion Project.
It is timeless in style, and the two pieces are 100% silk. There is a simple camisole underneath and then the sheer top. The embellishments are very secure and there is a fair bit of sparkle. The design goes around the collar to the back.
I paired it here with my simple khaki pants from Modnique and my sparkly shoes from DSW. The top arrived from Fashion Project in perfect condition and it was only $9! I must admit that I do love thrift shopping. The top looks brand new. I know I’ll get a lot of use out of it. I also must admit that since I wrote about the site I’ve been stalking it. I’ve gotten several other pieces and I’ll be showing them to you shortly.
I had the hubby take these photos on the same day he took the pictures for the big Fashionista Events Giveaway – if you haven’t entered yet you really should! Something happened though as we were taking the pictures.
I was attacked by a stink bug! I hate them. The funny aspect of this was the hubby was laughing at me as I tried to get it off of my head. Once I had it I flung it away and it flew in his direction.
AND IT LANDED ON HIS HEAD.
That’s what he gets for laughing at me!
