I was sent a set of National Park Postcards as a thank you for sharing the news about National Park Posters. All opinions are my own.
I’ve mentioned here and there on the blog about the three years that the hubby and I spent traveling about the country in our fifthwheel before we bought our little piece of paradise in Montana. We were able to just go where we wanted and stay in places for as long or as short a time as we wanted. It also gave us the chance to see many of the glorious National Parks, National Monuments and State Parks in the country. I was so excited to learn about the National Park Posters being made from photographs by Rob Decker.
National Park Posters
The posters are created by artist Rob Decker using a photographic process that lets them look like the old WPA posters. Mr. Decker is working on creating posters for all 59 National Parks; so far he has visited 43. I looked through the National Park Posters on the website and found some of my favorite Parks.
Like Carlsbad Caverns. We visited in the off season and actually extended our stay because I loved going into the caves so much. If you have never been I can say it is an AWESOME National Park. If you have and want a special way to remember it, a National Park Poster of Carlsbad might just be the thing.
We also spent a lot of time in Southern Utah. In fact we ended up stranded down there unexpectedly due to weather which allowed us to explore, Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce and Zion. Obviously I am not holding National Park Posters – I am holding National Park Post Cards! They are mail-able, high quality, renditions of the posters.
I have to admit I am seriously pleased with these postcards. They are suitable for framing if you wanted to take them and make a collage for your wall. You could frame one when you visit the park and hang it on the wall!
Celebrate Our National Parks
Visiting our National Parks is a wonderful way to spend time together as a family and these gorgeous posters would make a perfect way to memorialize the trip. Mr. Decker donates part of the proceeds back to Park organizations.
In addition to the posters and post cards there are also stunning canvas prints in three different sizes. Just look at the Badlands representation:
The Badlands is another of my favorite Parks. The vistas are astounding and the prairie dogs are adorable.
Get Your National Park Posters
Even if you haven’t had the opportunity to visit our beautiful National Parks you can look to the posters as inspiration and motivation. Put a couple up around the house and every time you look at it you will be inspired to save the last bit of money or get that trip on your schedule.
There are Parks within driving distance of almost everyone. Here in Montana I have two of the most beautiful parks within a few hours driving; Glacier to the north and Yellowstone to the south. We have been to Yellowstone three times now and I can’t wait to go back again.
If I were to choose any poster it would probably be of Yellowstone. It is my most favorite Park. Same thing if my budget allowed for a canvas print.
National Park Posters Make Great Gifts
I mentioned it above but it bears repeating – if you have someone on your gift list who loves a particular Park a National Park poster would make an excellent gift. Or if you know a teacher who needs some decorations for his/her classroom wouldn’t these be perfect? So many possibilities!
