We are officially halfway through the year.
Can you believe it?
I can’t. It went so very quickly – as time always does.
This week the prompt for the weekly photo challenge from Sally at The Studio Sublime was:
You pick – What are you focusing on this week?
I’m sure this is going to be a very interesting hop around the group!
My big focus this week was coming home from vacation to a finished deck! I know, this is probably mundane in the scheme of things but I was very excited. We started the house in 2007, we were able to occupy it in 2010 (notice I didn’t say “we finished it”) and the deck was added in 2013. Hmmm, I wonder what is going to happen in 2017….?
I have chronicled the move into the yurt with blog posts called “
yurtgress” and I suppose this is technically a yurtgress post. You can see some of the building process
here and
here. This is the yurt before the deck – my first thought upon seeing it built with the skylight added was that I was living in a baby bottle complete with nipple.

Not the best illustration but all of my good shots are on the dead computer. |
Now it looks like a completed house.
It looks finished.
It looks like it belongs in the tropics – not Montana!
But that’s OK.
I’ll take it.
We chose to keep the spindles out of the one section so as to not impede the view to the river. They are in the basement so we have them if we ever decide to sell the house.
I even took some “artsy” shots.
We are both enjoying it. The wait was worth it. We sit out and enjoy our coffee on it in the morning and then just enjoy the evenings together. It goes all around the house which is fantastic. I just have one big problem….
*sigh*
