WHY DIDN’T ANYONE WARN ME THAT THE GROUTING WAS WORSE THAN THE TILING?!
HUH, HUH, HUH?!
Thanks oh loyal readers. I really appreciate that. So does my skinless index finger.
Maybe it was better that I didn’t know.
I have so far only grouted half of the job as I just plain ran out of steam and too many things were hurting. So I have a piece of modern art in a bucket that is the same color as my grout. Double heh. The hubby bought me more grout. Darn him!
Cutting and fitting the tile for the tub surround was erm, challenging to say the least. Oh, yes. I did cut tile. I SWORE I was not going to do it but I did. And I refer to the bathroom as the room of a thousand cuts because it sure felt that way. With the house being roundish I couldn’t just go straight across with the tiles. Oh no! There were places where the sections met that had 12* angles and I had to cut the tiles to meet there. (I kept saying, ” I love my husband, I love my husband” over and over again ’cause he is the one who wanted the blasted ROUND house. I love my husband.
But overall I think I did a pretty good job for my first ever tiling job.
Here are some photos of the top of the surround – I even put in some glass tiles for a bit of decoration. Go me…
The shower wall
The surround base.
These have all been grouted.
This is the window wall. It’s half grouted. The window and left side still needs to be done.
The kitchen is done on the backsplash
but some idiot decided the window would look good tiled. There are days I am a true idiot. We are going to frame it in wood painted black. Actually the top of the tub wall is going to be framed that way too.
Same thing with this small window in the bathroom.
I will probably finish the grouting on Monday. I haven’t been feeling up to par and I want to have energy and a low grade headache going in so I can get it finished.
I don’t need another piece of modern art.
